One of the best vacations I ever took involved a 381 mile bike ride through the Canadian Rockies. It was a glorious ride through Kootenay, Yoho and Banff National Parks, past the Columbia Icefields, Moraine Lake, the powerful Athabasca Falls and on to Jasper.
My friend and I on a rented tandem mountain bike for 6 days.
Neither of us had ever ridden a tandem before, and when we were dropped off at the side of the road 30 miles from the Radium Hot Springs, where we would soak and dine that first night, I mounted the rear saddle with bravery, hope and determination.
Our stop at Lake Louise on day 2 included a hike to the Lake Agnes Tea House, which took a bit of endurance as I was not yet accustomed to the higher altitude. Stopping to take this photo of Lake Louise gave me an excuse to catch my breath:
Cameras weren’t as HD as they are nowadays. So I may have to go back. In a car. And stay at The Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise. And experience the spa. And dine on some Goat Ricotta Gnudi at the Fairview. Hey, hubby…..
Wow, good for you!! As gorgeous as the photo is, the ride you did is amazing.
