I started to post this picture on Facebook the other day because I am one of those regrettable people who sometimes posts what she’s having for dinner. I chose this picture because it gives a good view of the grilled onions.
But then I noticed the edge of a box of crappy Kroger donuts in the background.
So I backed the posting bus up and cropped the donuts out.
But then the photo looked awkward, out of balance.
So I went with this one instead.
See the hub at the fridge filling his water glass when I made a perfectly lovely lemonade?
From now on I’m going completely cropless when it comes to things like crappy donuts because this blog is partially about my real life.
And in my real life sometimes crappy, delicious Kroger cinnamon donuts are exactly what I need.
Pineapple favoured donuts are my favourite, cropless or otherwise.

Pineapple is a donut flavor I have not yet met. And dang it, I forgot that a photographer might be reading/seeing the post – with its crowded, ill-composed, amateur pics. Forgive me.

A good photograph tells a good story and your images do just that. There is nothing worse than a ‘food image’ portrayed in a sterile environment. Kitchens are normally busy, crowded places, ours certainly is and any photo involving food preparation should be ‘busy’ in photographic terms.
After all, a good photo tells it like it is and you shouldn’t change your style. It ticks all the boxes.

Right at the junction of kindness, graciousness and generosity sits your comment. Thank you Bones.
And thanks for the brief lesson about the busyness of the photo mirroring the busyness of the subject. I hope I remember that the next time I aim my camera (who are we kidding, my phone) at something busy, serene, crowded, solitary, etc.
